Cheryl - He is most definately a great motivator and it is great to see him hold to his principles and set a great example. As for the younger generation - I think they actually have a greater chance than we did. Just look at all of the journals and blogs out there by this generation; it's not just a paper diary that may get lost, packed away or forgotten. It's a part of their lives - a constant reference to who they are and were - I think it makes it harder for them to sell out. Irving - I promised myself before writting this piece that I wouldn't read anything written on the event - it was only afterwards that I noticed all of the negative attention (which I am not in the least bit surprised). I have to thank Eteraz and Democratic Underground for mentioning the post and for addressing the greater issues in regards to the importance of the event. I don't always agree with the Democrats as I think both parties spend too much time politicizing rather than addressing real issues and their causes, but Howard Dean is one of the good ones. He is the reason I went from a lifelong independent who voted Republican as well as Democrat and other parties, to a registered Democrat.
