Oh Hell No!

July 23, 2008

This is not going to cut it!

But according to German intelligence sources, Mladic has been negotiating with those hunting him over the terms of his capture, and “gave information on [on Karadzic’s whereabouts] to save himself”.

According to a source close to the German foreign intelligence service, the BND, Mladic is determined to avoid going on trial at the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) at the Hague.

Instead he wants to face proceedings at a local court in Serbia, where he is still regarded by a hero by some. Local war crimes trials began in Belgrade in 2004, and are housed in a special courtroom kitted out with a dock encased in bullet proof glass.

This is unacceptable on so many levels.

I have a better solution – keep Serbia out of the EU and Mladic on the run until he is apprehended – no negotiated surrender.  It’s better he spend the rest of his life in a miserable state of paranoia over who is going to turn him in, when he is going to be caught, etc. than to spend any time in some posh cell eating EU sponsored filet mignon for dinner.

So many people out there think that Karadzic’s arrest has Al-Bashir all shook up .. the way I see it this news of Mladic’s negotiations should have soothed his minor indegestion.

Here’s a bit about the Chicago Bosnian communitie’s reaction to the arrest of Karadzic.

It’s very interesting that one year ago, a group of students of the Faculty of Drama Arts from Belgrade made pilot episode for a TVsitcom ‘MLADICI’ (The Room-mates with Ratko Mladic), that in some way predicted the concept of Radovan Karadzic hiding.

The story of a this authentic serbian sitcom, but also in some way a remake of a popular tv series “ALF” is that it shows tense relations between Ratko Mladic and two young men sharing a flat with him and wishing to organize a party. The flat is owned by their grandmother Smilja and they are allowed to live in it only under condition to share it with the former military commander of the Republic of Srpska.

The pilot episode was very popular on the internet, and a lot of Serbina newspapers wrote about it, but no Television in Serbia dare to show it or to produce a sitcom, because it was too “problematic”.

Here you have a link to watch the sitcom ‘Mladici’ (The Room-mates with Ratko Mladic)
